Dell 1525 Ac Power. Battery not charging. Having gone through all the procedures on cleaning contacts, deleting the various items from device manager, checking the AC Power adapter for damage etc, I spoke to Dell Tech Support who said that it was either the AC Power Adapter that was dead or the main board was faulty. This was because in the BIOS (press F2 at startup) under the Battery it showed that the AC adapter was Unrecognised or Unknown Type. I noted to Dell that the power socket was a bit loose and moved around. This set me thinking and as an additional measure I opened the case sufficiently to see where the AC Power comes in. It is an unusual system which seems to use the chassis as a means of moving the power around. I unscrewed the single screw on the small board (seperate to the mainboard and you do not have to remove it if changing the coin cell battery) that was holding the Power socket and then screwed it up - making sure it was correctly aligned with the case- and made sure the screw was very tight. Over and above all the other measures -which I didn't expect to work- I am wondering if this was the true cause of the issue. [Unfortunately I used the shotgun approach and did all the necessaries without checking which one was the true cause] .Once I reconnected the power cord and went into BIOS settings, the AC adapter showed as a recognised 64W AC Adapter, and from there on the laptop charged correctly. |
