How to find your IP address on the local network.

For Windows 2000 and XP machines.

Go to the Start Menu and up to Run

Type "cmd" (caps or lowercase, it doesn't care)

Click OK. The DOS prompt appears (you will have a slightly different bit before the > symbol)

Type "ipconfig".

Press Return key or Enter key, and you will get the IP number/s

In this case, it shows I have 2 network adapters, a wireless ethernet (192.168.100.253) and a wired ethernet (192.168.100.10):

To get fuller information (I have removed the Wirelss card to make it easier), type

"ipconfig /all"

and it tells you that the address was obtained via DHCP, how long it is valid for, default gateways etc.
