Retrospect v6.5 Windows Version and Earlier

Reinstalling Retrospect Without Losing Scripts and Schedules.

Or

Moving Retrospect to Another Server and Transferring Scripts and Schedules .

1. The first key files to retain are all the *.rbc and *.rbf files. Move these to a safe location (for example: fileserver, other disk, CD/DVD media). Note the locations they were found in as you will need to put them back in exactly the same locations.

2. Find the config65.dat file/folder (usually in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Retrospect for Windows XP and Server 2003) and note the location.

3. Copy the config65.dat to the safe location.

4. Deinstall Retrospect, reboot and reinstall (Alternatively, if moving fileserver, install retrospect on the new server).

5. Copy the files saved from the safe location back on to the reinstalled server/ new server ensuring they are in the same folders.

6. One needs to ensure that the catalogues are all seen by Retrospect, as Retrospect has no idea of their current existence. To do this, make a shortcut of the Retrospect application and place it on the desktop. Navigate to the catalogues (they are the *.rbc files) and drag each catalog onto the shortcut. This opens Retrospect and forces it to look at the catalogue and assimilate it
